I need a complete ANSYS Fluent analysis of a 1 500 mm coaxial ducted fan, modelled with the Actuator Disk approach. The goal is to predict thrust, pressure recovery, torque and overall aerodynamic performance so I can compare the results against empirical data already gathered from bench tests. Scope • Build or refine a clean 3-D model of the duct, spinner and hub (blades will be represented by an actuator disk). • Generate a high-quality mesh that resolves boundary layers inside the duct and minimises numerical diffusion in the wake. • Select an appropriate turbulence model for this application and justify the choice. • Run steady-state simulations first; if convergence flags unsteady behaviour, include a transient follow-up. • Post-process to deliver detailed contours and plots of pressure, velocity and streamlines, plus integral values of thrust, torque and efficiency. • Provide a succinct report (PDF) explaining set-up assumptions, solver settings, mesh independence check and key findings, along with the original work files (*.msh, *.cas, *.dat, *.wbpz). Acceptance Criteria 1. Residuals below 1 × 10⁻⁴ (or better) with balanced mass flow. 2. Mesh independence demonstrated by less than 2 % change in predicted thrust between the last two grid levels. 3. Delivered thrust prediction within ±5 % of my experimental figure at the reference operating point. Tools: ANSYS Fluent 2021 R2 or later, CFD-Post, and any auxiliary scripting (e.g. Python or Scheme) you find useful—all to be handed over. I will share geometry specifics, boundary conditions and test data once we start. Let me know your expected turnaround time and any clarifications you need before committing.

Hi, I understand you need a complete ANSYS Fluent CFD study of a 1500 mm coaxial ducted fan using the Actuator Disk approach, including mesh independence verification, thrust and torque prediction, pressure recovery analysis, and validation against experimental test data. I’m a Mechanical Design and Simulation Engineer with 15+ years of experience in ANSYS Fluent and SolidWorks, specializing in CFD, FEA, fluid flow analysis, 2D/3D modeling, and prototype development. I have performed CFD studies on pumps, fans, ventilation systems, and internal flow devices, including turbulence modeling, mesh optimization, performance prediction, and correlation of simulation results with test measurements. My approach will focus on building a reliable CFD model, selecting and justifying the appropriate turbulence model, conducting a rigorous mesh independence study, and delivering clear engineering insights that can be directly compared with your bench-test data. Could you share the operating RPM range and whether swirl effects from the actuator disk need to be included in the model? If you’d like, I can first review the geometry and test data and propose the CFD methodology before starting the simulations.

Most discrepancies between CFD and bench tests come from how the actuator-disk, boundary layers and wake are represented — a coarse mesh or the wrong turbulence model will give good-looking contours but the wrong thrust/pressure recovery numbers. I’ll refine your 3-D duct/spinner/hub, represent blades with an actuator-disk body‑force/porous-jump in Fluent, generate a boundary-layer-resolved tetra/hex-prism mesh with targeted y+ < 1–30 as appropriate, run steady RANS (SST k-omega baseline) and monitor residuals/mass balance; if signs of unsteady wake interaction appear, I’ll follow up with transient DES/URANS. I’ll deliver mesh-independence cases, CFD-Post plots, and a concise PDF plus all .msh, .cas, .dat and journal/scripts. Preferred stack: ANSYS Fluent 2021R2+, ANSYS Meshing or ICEM for structured layers, CFD-Post, Python/Scheme for automation and mesh-convergence scripts. I’ll hand over runnable scripts so you can re-run parametrics or extend to LES later. I’ve completed multiple propulsion/rotor CFD and FEA workflows—meshing, solver automation and client-ready reports—and can share case summaries on request. I estimate 10–14 days from receipt of geometry and boundary data. Quick question: what file format will you provide the geometry in, and what is the reference operating point (RPM or mass flow) you want matched?

Hi, I will deliver a comprehensive ANSYS Fluent analysis of your 1,500 mm coaxial ducted fan using the Actuator Disk approach. My experience with high-fidelity CFD simulations ensures that I’ll develop or refine a precise 3D model of the duct, spinner, and hub while effectively implementing a high-quality mesh to capture the necessary boundary layer dynamics. I’ll select the most suitable turbulence model based on the expected flow regime, and I am prepared to run both steady-state and transient simulations to ensure convergence. Post-processing will provide detailed contours, plots, and integral performance metrics, all compiled in a clear report that meets your specifications. To align my work with your acceptance criteria, I will ensure residuals are minimal, perform a thorough mesh independence check, and validate thrust predictions against your empirical data. I typically deliver projects like this within 2-3 weeks, depending on the complexity of the initial model. Please share the geometry specifics and boundary conditions at your earliest convenience to get started. Thank you.

Dear Client, With 10+ years of experience, I can see what you are going to implement for your coaxial ducted fan ANSYS Fluent CFD simulation. I specialize in fluid dynamics, structured mesh generation, and defining user-defined functions for actuator disk models. I will implement this analysis by constructing a high-quality hexahedral or poly-hexcore mesh to resolve boundary layers along the duct walls. I will set up the actuator disk logic using a dedicated boundary zone with a pressure jump or source term via a custom UDF script to accurately model thrust and torque distribution. The Fluent solver will utilize the SST k-omega turbulence model to capture adverse pressure gradients, and I will perform a multi-level grid convergence index study to verify mesh independence below 2%. Do you have the exact radial distribution profiles for the axial and tangential forces from your bench tests to inject directly into the actuator disk model? I can start immediately and you will never be disappointed. Best regards, Oleksandr
