Finite Element Slab Thermal Modelling

We are seeking a qualified thermal modelling consultant to support our compliance and product validation work for slab-on-ground systems incorporating QPOD™, XPS insulation, and SlabTank™. The objective is to calculate the steady-state R-values of these systems in accordance with MBIE Verification Method H1/VM1 (Appendix F), specifically using the verification method F.1.1.1(b) and the 3D modelling guidance in F1.2. Results must align with ISO 13370:2007 (ground heat transfer) and ISO 10211:2007 (2D slab-edge Ψ values). We have prior Sustainable Engineering reports on QPOD systems, along with verified thermal conductivity testing for our XPS material (λ = 0.02719 W/m·K at 50 mm, 15 °C). These can be provided as references. The scope includes: 3D finite element modelling of the QPOD system to determine equivalent thermal conductivity. Calculation of construction R-values with various XPS thicknesses (25–100 mm) under both 90 mm and 140 mm wall framing, with and without brick rebate. Derivation of overall system R-values by A/P ratio, including slab edge losses. Assessment of SlabTank to confirm whether its thermal performance is equivalent to QPOD, supported by comparative modelling. Deliverables will include a technical report (PDF) suitable for council submission, summary tables of R-values vs A/P ratio, machine-readable data (CSV/XLSX), and supporting modelling figures.
