Customer imports usually break on two things: phone/date formats that look fine in Excel but arrive mangled in SQL, and "duplicates" that are actually the same person with a trailing space or different casing on email. I'll dedupe on normalised email and phone, map columns to your schema, run the import in a transaction so a bad row doesn't half-load, and hand back a short report with rejected rows. 1) MySQL, Access, or something else, and do you want staging first? 2) Should purchase IDs match existing orders, or just import as-is?
