Duties & Responsibilities:
Performs data entry functions related to refilling prescriptions in pharmacy computer system including printing labels, compounding records, delivery tickets and related scheduling documentation.
Communicates with pharmacists regarding refills unable to be processed due to prescription changes, prescriptions requiring additional documentation, and/or the need for new orders when appropriate.
Contacts patients and/or Nurses to schedule deliveries and notifies appropriate Pentec personnel of changes and patient/client needs or requests.
Communicates with other departments as required for notification of patient status changes. Documents communications and related changes as necessary in pharmacy computer system.
Scans all documents into patient electronic medical record. Maintains pharmacy records, assuring all required documents are present in the patient electronic medical record.
Maintains required scheduling documents to assure routine deliveries for patients and nurses.
Faxes to and tracks receipt of prescriptions for new and refill patient prescriptions from the prescribing physician office. Performs follow up calls to physician office when needed to obtain prescription.
Performs the duties of a Pharmacy I.V. Technician, as required
Assists the Manager of Pharmacy in Quality Management program.
Assists the Manager of Pharmacy in education of Pharmacy Students.
Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
Authority and Accountability:
Checks processed non-narcotic prescriptions for accuracy prior to submitting to pharmacist for final check.
Checks supplies and medications ready to be shipped prior to submitting to a pharmacist for final check.
Verifies recipient name and location are correct on delivery manifest prior to pharmacist final check.

Prior experience in pharmacy computer systems and software.

Education, Certifications, Trainings:
High School graduate or equivalent
Previous experience with pharmacy or medical recordkeeping preferred.
Previous experience as an IV technician preferred.
Certification from an approved technician program.
Proficiency with pharmacy computer systems and software.
Use of I.V. Compounding equipment.
