When that token breaks — after a password change, MFA reset or policy update — Teams usually fails loudly at sign-in while Outlook fails quietly, appearing to work while sync silently stops. So the Teams symptom you can see and the backup problem you can't may share a cause. Worth checking before treating them separately. On backup specifically: Outlook doesn't really have a backup feature. AutoArchive and Export both create PST files, which move mail out of your mailbox onto your computer — so the only copy ends up on a single machine, unprotected. That's usually the opposite of what people intend when they set it up. What actually protects your mail depends on your setup. If you're on Microsoft 365, the archive mailbox keeps everything in the cloud and searchable. If you need a true backup — protection against deletion or account loss — that needs a third-party backup service, since Microsoft's retention isn't the same thing as backup. Questions: Q1 – Microsoft 365, or a different email provider? Q2 – What error does Teams show at sign-in? Q3 – Did a password or MFA change happen recently?
