Hi there, we are a startup that launched a product on kickstarter and have continued to take preorders via a shopify lite store that is embedded on a wordpress site. ([login to view URL]). We are fast approaching fulfilment time and want to make sure our e-commerce platform is up to task and performing well.
I am evaluating the pros/cons of using a shopify site vs a woocommerce/WP platform.
The key requirements are:
Integrates with Xero accounting software.
Handles online sales in multiple locations and currencies
Can integrate to 3rd party logistics providers
Product selection function as per option 1 of attached plan.
(Our first product will come in two separate boxes. One box with a universal retractor and the second with a selectable mounting kit based on a series of parameters, including wheelchair make, model and frame tube diameter. We will need to build a selection function which relates to specific SKU items at the order or checkout process.)
There is a similar selection process at this company here:

Simply follow the process by selecting "twinset" and you will see what I mean. They use WP
Ideally it also has:
A wholesaler login and order function
Integrates with a CRM (currently using capsule)
Integrates with email marketing system (currently using mailchimp)
Able to update customer details across all platforms
We are also mindful of ensuring the online shopping experience is optimised for user experience, is fast and responsive and doesn't cost us the earth!
I have been told that custom dev work for shopify is more involved and costly that wordpress. Would like your thoughts on this as objectively as you can too please.
Ideally we are looking for someone to manage our website longer term so this could lead to ongoing work.
Look forward to your reply,
