My VTOL build is stuck on the ground: I can't get the settings for my Radiomaster to save and retain settings over reboots. Many consecutive attempts to make the arming switch work have failed, after getting it to work before with a simple SA up down switch. I need a two stage switch utilizing the standard thr <98 logic and the two position SE and SA switch. I need someone who has a strong internet connection for screensharing who can use team viewer if needed. • review the existing YAML file for obvious conflicts or missing fields that would block arming using screenshare. • guide me through any radio calibration or RC-map corrections necessary to satisfy the safety checks • suggest and, if needed, test-fly (in SITL) revised parameters so the aircraft arms cleanly and lifts off under STABILIZE and QLOITER Success for me is simple: the pre-arm warning disappears and the drone arms and takes off reliably in bench tests or in a simulator, with clear documentation of what you changed and why. If you prefer using tools like mavproxy, SITL, or QGroundControl instead of Mission Planner, that works for me as long as the end result is a tidy YAML or .param file I can flash straight onto the Cube. One of the drones was flying last year but the hover test didn't go well and it set me back from october until now.

Hello, I understand your VTOL is failing pre-arm due to radio config not persisting and incorrect switch logic for arming (THR <98 + SA/SE staging). I will review your YAML/params via screenshare, identify conflicts (RC mapping, ARMING_CHECK, channel assignments), and fix persistence issues on the Radiomaster. I’ll configure correct two-stage arming logic using SA/SE, verify throttle failsafe conditions, and ensure all pre-arm checks pass. I’ll also recalibrate RC inputs and validate mode/channel mapping. If needed, I’ll replicate your setup in SITL (ArduPilot + MAVProxy/QGroundControl) to safely test revised parameters before applying them. Final output will be a clean .param/YAML file ready to flash, plus clear documentation of every change and why. Goal: zero pre-arm errors, reliable arming, and stable lift-off in STABILIZE and QLOITER. Thanks, Asif

I have resolved numerous "Pre-arm check failed" errors across complex ArduPilot VTOL configurations, ranging from standard QuadPlanes to advanced tilt-rotors. Having navigated the intricacies of Mission Planner for high-stakes builds, I understand that these failures often stem from nuanced sensor fusion inconsistencies or hidden parameter conflicts within the ArduPlane code. I am equipped with a high-bandwidth fiber-optic connection to ensure our troubleshooting screenshare session is seamless, allowing me to analyze your parameters and telemetry data without any lag or interruption. To get you airborne, I will first examine the GCS console to isolate the specific subsystem—whether it involves EKF lane switching, GPS hdop thresholds, or improper Q_parameter initialization. I will systematically verify your compass offsets and AHRS orientation, as VTOL platforms are sensitive to magnetic interference generated by high-current ESCs. We will also cross-reference the ARMING_CHECK bitmask and calibrate your safety switch logic to ensure the flight controller registers a verified "Ready to Fly" state across all motor channels. Does the HUD provide a specific warning like "Compass not healthy," or is the message currently non-specific? Additionally, are you running a standard Pixhawk board or a Cube Orange? I am available to jump on a screenshare immediately to debug these logs in real-time and resolve the block today. Let's connect for a brief chat to align on the hardware specifics and get your aircraft through the pre-flight checks and into the air.

Hello I understand your VTOL is currently blocked at the arming stage with the “Pre-arm check failed: waiting for RC” error, and you need a structured debugging approach focused on ArduPilot parameter/YAML configuration rather than hardware. My approach will be systematic and simulation-safe so we identify the root cause without risking the airframe. Once resolved, I will provide you with a clean, corrected .param or YAML file along with a clear explanation of all changes so you can confidently flash it back onto your Cube. The end goal is a stable arming sequence with verified hover readiness in both simulation and real-world testing. Portfolio: https://www.freelancer.pk/u/salahuddin1973 Best Regards Naufal

Hello! I’ve tackled similar issues with Ardupilot and can help you get your VTOL airborne. Last time, I resolved a pre-arm check failure by fine-tuning the YAML parameters and calibrating the RC mapping, resulting in a smooth flight and reliable takeoffs. From what you described, it sounds like there might be a conflict in the parameters or a missed calibration step. I’d love to review your .param dump and YAML file to identify any obvious issues. Have you checked if the RC inputs are correctly mapped to the flight controller? If you're open to it, I can guide you through the necessary adjustments and even run some test flights in SITL to ensure everything works smoothly. We can start with a quick chat to discuss your setup and any logs you can share. If you’re interested, I can show you a similar build and we can see if it fits. Looking forward to your reply!

Hi, Your VTOL build presents a clear challenge with the 'Pre-arm check failed: waiting for RC' error, which typically indicates potential issues in the YAML parameters or RC setup rather than hardware. This is critical because a misconfiguration can prevent your drone from arming safely, impacting flight reliability. I can help identify any conflicting parameters in the YAML and .param file, ensuring all required fields are correctly set to allow for successful arming and calibration. In similar past experiences, I've worked extensively with Ardupilot configurations, successfully troubleshooting pre-arm issues by carefully analyzing parameter sets and guiding clients through necessary calibration steps. My approach has consistently resulted in reliable flight setups, which I would apply here to ensure your VTOL arms and takes off as intended. To tackle this, I would first conduct a detailed review of your YAML and .param files to spot any discrepancies. Following that, I would assist you in calibrating the radio and making any necessary adjustments to the RC map. If needed, I can simulate the changes in SITL to confirm the aircraft arms correctly before any real-world tests. What specific changes or adjustments have you made recently to the RC configuration? Are there any additional logs or data points you can share that might help narrow down the issue? Sincerely, Dan Hostetler

Hello, I have carefully reviewed your VTOL setup issue and previously resolved a similar case involving ArduPilot-based systems where arming logic, RC mapping, and parameter conflicts prevented proper initialization. That project included debugging YAML/param files, fixing switch logic, and validating behavior through SITL before successful lift-off. Your challenges with Radiomaster settings persistence, two-stage arming logic using throttle and switches, and pre-arm failures are clear. I will review your YAML for conflicts, guide you through calibration and RC-map corrections, and refine parameters to ensure clean arming in STABILIZE and QLOITER. I can also validate changes in SITL and provide a clean, ready-to-flash config with clear documentation. I am available to begin immediately and can assist via screenshare to resolve this efficiently and reliably. Best regards, Pedro

Hello, I can help you resolve the arming and Radiomaster configuration issues quickly and cleanly. I have hands-on experience with VTOL setups using ArduPilot, including RC mapping, pre-arm safety checks, and parameter tuning. I’ll review your YAML/params for conflicts, fix the two-stage switch logic (SA/SE with throttle safety), and guide you through calibration to ensure settings persist correctly. I can also validate everything in SITL (MAVProxy/QGroundControl) before finalizing a clean, ready-to-flash config. I’m available for live screensharing (TeamViewer or similar) with a stable connection, and I’ll document every change so you know exactly what was fixed and why. Let’s get your VTOL arming and flying reliably again. Best regards, Caden

Hi, If the settings aren’t sticking on your Radiomaster, that’s usually either a model config issue (EdgeTX/OpenTX logic) or a mismatch with ArduPilot channel expectations. I’ll help you: • Fix the switch logic (two-stage arming with THR < 98 + SA/SE) • Ensure settings persist after reboot • Align RC channels with ArduPilot parameters • Validate everything in SITL before you test again We’ll get you back to a clean, predictable arm sequence.
