Telescoping LED Decorative Lamp Light Fixture

I'd like to develop a light fixture (i.e., floor lamp or maybe even a table/desk lamp) that features a telescoping internal post that incorporates LEDs as the light source. With many pressure sensitive actuators and hydraulics out there, I'd like to make the post that has the LEDs on it be able to be pressed on to elevate the post out of the bottom/lower post. Once it raises, there would be some LED "arms" that would be hinged that could drop down, extending out the light source.
To keep costs low, would not want a motorized elevating system, prefer mechanical instead. Likely high bright LED strip lights or other HB LEDs. Needs to run on regular US household current.
