I need a secure metal storage box that opens only for approved fingerprints. The core of the build is a capacitive fingerprint sensor wired to a simple control board that drives an electric latch. Reliability and a low total parts cost matter more to me than extra bells and whistles, but if a small LED or buzzer can be added without inflating the budget, feel free to include it. Box requirements • All-metal construction sturdy enough to resist casual tampering • Interior space roughly the size of a small valuables case (approximately 18*7*2 cm) • Smooth external finish, no exposed fasteners around the lock area Electronics • Capacitive fingerprint module (stable library support for easy enrollment/deletion) • Simple status feedback—minimal LEDs or sound only if they keep costs low • USB-C backup supply • Microcontroller code that I can reflash later if needed Deliverables • CAD files for the metal housing and any custom brackets • Complete wiring diagram and PCB (if used) in Gerber format • Embedded source code with clear comments • Bill of materials with vendor links and current unit pricing • Step-by-step assembly guide and a short video or photo set demonstrating a working prototype Acceptance criteria 1. Box remains locked until an enrolled fingerprint is detected; unauthorized prints are rejected every time during live demo. 2. Mechanism cycles at least 100 consecutive lock/unlock operations without jam or reset. 3. Total component cost (excluding machining) stays within the agreed low-cost target we’ll confirm before you start ordering parts. If you have a tried-and-tested capacitive module in mind or clever ways to keep machining costs down, let me know in your proposal along with your expected timeline for prototype delivery.
