AUXILIARY POWER SUPPLY DESIGN

1. Introduction:
a. This design is for a power supply card using a Vicor module VE-274-EW.
b. The card shall operate from 130Vdc to 230Vdc (which is well within the limits of the Vicor module.
c. The card shall provide two outputs, namely 48Vdc and an auxiliary output (selectable voltage).
d. The mechanical outline of the board and the placement of the connectors are specified, this drawing is available as a pdf file and as Protel CAD file.
e. All data sheets shall be provided.
f. All parts are available from Digikey and Mouser.
g. Altium must be used for the schematic capture as well as the printed circuit board design.
2. Vicor module
a. VE-274-EW
b. Input circuit schematic attached as pdf. This schematic contains all the parts and their part numbers as well as the Digikey stock numbers. These components must be used.
c. The output voltage of the Vicor module is 48Vdc.
d. The expected input voltage to the board is 130Vdc to 230Vdc.
3. Auxiliary power output:
a. The board shall incorporate an auxiliary regulator, using the LM2575HVT-ADJ/NOPB (data sheet shall be provided).
b. The proposed schematic for the LM2575HVT-ADJ/NOPB is attached as a pdf file. This schematic contains all the parts and their part numbers as well as the Digikey stock numbers. These components must be used.
4. Scope of supply:
a. Prepare complete schematic capture.
b. Schematic review and modifications (milestone # 1).
c. Prepare complete bill of material.
d. Bill of material review and modifications.
e. Printed circuit board component placement
f. Review of the component placement on the printed circuit board and modifications (milestone # 2)..
g. Printed circuit board layout.
h. Review of the printed circuit board layout and modifications (milestone # 3).
i. Generate Gerber files (milestone # 4).
5. Proposed project milestones:
a. Milestone 1 – Schematic.
b. Milestone 2 – Component placement on the printed circuit board.
c. Milestone 3 – Printed circuit board layout.
d. Milestone 4 – Gerber files and completion.
