I already have complete Xschem schematics for three CMOS comparators—StrongARM, Double-Tail, and Triple-Tail—targeting the SkyWater 130 nm PDK. What I now need is the full-custom layout of each design in Magic, brought to a state where it meets the following requirements: * DRC-clean according to the standard Sky130 design rules * LVS-clean against the existing Xschem netlists * Power consumption, propagation delay, and input-referred offset should all be considered and optimized as much as reasonably possible during the layout design. Key Design Objectives There are three main performance criteria that are particularly important for this design: 1. Power consumption 2. Propagation delay 3. Input-referred offset These three parameters should be considered together throughout the layout process, and the impact of layout decisions on each parameter should be evaluated. The goal is to achieve the best possible balance between power consumption, speed, and offset performance, rather than prioritizing one parameter over the others. Particular attention should be paid to how layout decisions such as transistor placement, device matching, routing, and parasitic capacitance/resistance affect these three performance criteria. Scope of Work * Translate each existing Xschem schematic into an efficient full-custom Magic layout, following Sky130 layer conventions and design rules. * Optimize transistor placement and geometry where appropriate, without changing the intended circuit topology or functionality. * Use shielding, minimal metal jumps, and balanced differential routing where beneficial to reduce parasitic effects and minimize asymmetry in differential signal paths. * Pay particular attention to matching-critical transistors and differential signal paths. * Run DRC and LVS verification and provide the corresponding results. * Provide extracted netlists and parasitic extraction results so that the designs can be re-simulated in Ngspice with post-layout parasitics. * Evaluate layout-related trade-offs and their impact on power consumption, propagation delay, and input-referred offset. Deliverables * Three separate Magic layout files (.mag), one for each comparator * A merged GDSII file containing all three layouts * DRC and LVS reports demonstrating zero errors * Extracted netlists including C-parasitics for post-layout simulation and back-annotation * A short Markdown document describing the key layout considerations and design decisions, including transistor placement, device matching, routing strategy, shielding, parasitic reduction techniques, and other important layout considerations * A short Markdown note describing the major design trade-offs made with respect to power consumption, propagation delay, and input-referred offset Project Tracking and Collaboration The project can be tracked and managed through GitHub. Layout files, verification reports, extracted netlists, documentation, and subsequent revisions can be committed to the repository so that the development progress and changes can be tracked throughout the project. Intermediate stages and checkpoints can also be documented through GitHub commits and/or issues. This will allow the progress of each comparator to be tracked and reviewed independently throughout the layout, DRC, LVS, and post-layout extraction stages. Review and Checkpoints The standard Sky130 design rules are sufficient; no proprietary constraints are involved. The turnaround time and intermediate checkpoints are flexible, but the project should be completed and delivered as soon as reasonably possible. However, once each layout reaches a DRC-clean state, I would like to review the layout before proceeding with the final LVS verification, parasitic extraction, and final optimization/polishing stages.

I will translate your Xschem schematics into three full-custom Magic layouts, aligned with Sky130 layer conventions. I’ll ensure DRC-cleaning and LVS-cross-check against your nets, and I’ll optimize transistor placement to improve matching and minimize parasitics. What exact matching tolerance and post-layout parasitic targets should guide the design, and are there any preferred shielding or routing constraints for the differential paths that you want prioritized? I’ll balance power, speed, and input-referred offset by carefully routing, shielding, and controlling parasitic C and R, while keeping the intended circuit topology intact. I will provide extracted parasitics, a merged GDSII, and a concise design-notes Markdown document explaining key decisions and trade-offs. After the DRC-clean verification, I’ll review readiness before LVS and post-layout extraction, and I’ll share interim results via GitHub milestones so you can verify progress and approve next steps. Hello, I saw your project involves full-custom Magic layouts for three CMOS comparators—StrongARM, Double-Tail, and Triple-Tail—using the SkyWater 130 nm PDK. I loved the focus on balancing power, propagation delay, and input-referred offset rather than optimizing only one parameter. What do you think if I handle the layouts with matching, symmetry, routing, and parasitic effects considered from the beginning? I have 15+ years of experience in electronics, embedded systems, analog/digital circuit design, PCB design, and hardware debugging. I can work carefully from your existing Xschem schematics and implement the three layouts while preserving the intended topology and functionality. The work can include transistor placement and matching, differential routing, shielding where useful, parasitic-aware routing, and iterative DRC/LVS verification. I can also generate extracted netlists with capacitances for Ngspice post-layout simulation and evaluate how layout choices affect speed, power, and offset. I can provide the three `.mag` layouts, merged GDSII, DRC/LVS results, extracted netlists, and Markdown documentation covering layout decisions and performance trade-offs. GitHub commits and checkpoints can be used throughout the project so you can review each comparator before final LVS and extraction. I am ready to start from the existing Xschem designs and proceed comparator by comparator. Best regards, Hamza

Hi, I’ll turn your three Sky130 comparator schematics into DRC-clean, LVS-clean Magic layouts with matched device placement, balanced differential routing, and post-layout extraction for Ngspice. The main technical concern here is preserving offset and delay performance while controlling parasitics in StrongARM, Double-Tail, and Triple-Tail structures, so I’ll use symmetry, shielding, and careful transistor geometry to keep asymmetry low. I recently worked on a Sky130 analog layout flow involving Magic, DRC/LVS closure, and extracted netlist handoff for post-layout simulation. For your project, I’d begin with the comparator most sensitive to matching, then complete layout, verification, and extraction for each design. Would you like the DRC-clean layout review at each comparator stage before LVS closure? Best regards, NexLoom

You need full-custom layout for three CMOS comparators, StrongARM, Double-Tail, and Triple-Tail, targeting the SkyWater 130 nm PDK, so I will start by importing your Xschem netlists into Magic. I will then build each comparator layout from the ground up using the standard Sky130 DRC rules and LVS against your provided netlists. For optimization, I will focus on reducing parasitic capacitance and resistance in critical paths for lower propagation delay and power consumption, and also carefully place sensitive input transistors to minimize leakage and offset voltage issues. I am choosing to build these custom layouts directly rather than using any automated tools. The brief leaves underspecified the exact weighting of power, delay, and offset against each other, so I will assume a balanced approach, prioritizing a reasonable trade-off between all three, until you indicate otherwise. I am a Preferred Freelancer with a 5.0 rating over 10 reviews, delivered on time and on budget each time. How will you want the input-referred offset specifically handled, given it’s sensitive to device matching and layout parasitics? I will have DRC and LVS clean layouts for all three comparators, with optimizations applied to power and delay, ready for your review within the first day or two.

For custom comparators, DRC/LVS-clean is only the starting point. A layout can pass both while still adding mismatch and parasitics that hurt offset or delay. I’d optimize those together rather than treating verification as the final step. I can take your existing Xschem netlists and implement the **StrongARM, Double-Tail, and Triple-Tail** comparators in Magic using Sky130 rules. My workflow is: **Xschem netlist → matching-aware placement → symmetric routing → DRC → review checkpoint → LVS → extraction → Ngspice post-layout simulation → optimization.** I’ll pay particular attention to: • Differential-pair matching, orientation, symmetry, and common-centroid/interdigitated structures where appropriate. • Diffusion sharing and transistor placement to reduce parasitic capacitance. • Balanced differential routing and shielding of sensitive nodes. • Routing resistance/capacitance affecting regeneration speed and power. • Layout-induced mismatch affecting input-referred offset. After each comparator reaches DRC-clean, I’ll provide it for your review before continuing to LVS and extraction. Deliverables: 3 `.mag` layouts, merged GDSII, zero-error DRC/LVS reports, extracted netlists with C-parasitics, and Markdown documentation explaining layout decisions and power/delay/offset trade-offs. GitHub commits can track each checkpoint and revision.

Dear Client, For StrongARM, Double-Tail and Triple-Tail comparators, the difficult part is not drawing polygons in Magic—it is preserving symmetry, matching and low parasitics so post-layout power, delay and input-referred offset stay close to schematic expectations. I have 11+ years of electronics design experience across 500+ assignments involving analog/mixed-signal circuits, precision layout, parasitic control, signal integrity and design validation. My development path would be: Matching Strategy → Symmetric Placement → Critical Routing → DRC → LVS → Parasitic Extraction → spice Validation I would focus on differential-pair matching, regenerative-node symmetry, common-centroid/interdigitation where appropriate, supply/ground distribution, shielding and minimizing unnecessary metal transitions. I can support Magic .mag layouts, merged GDSII, DRC/LVS closure, extracted netlists with parasitics, post-layout simulation support and concise Markdown documentation covering layout decisions and power/delay/offset trade-offs. Two important questions: 1. Are transistor dimensions/fingering already frozen in the Xschem schematics? 2. What input-referred offset target should guide the matching strategy? Profile: https://www.freelancer.in/u/ElectronicsMust If you message me, I’ll tell you the first three matching and parasitic-control decisions I would lock before placing the Strong ARM comparator. Hello, I can help with the Sky130 full-custom layout work for your StrongARM, Double-Tail, and Triple-Tail CMOS comparators. I understand that this requires more than simply translating Xschem schematics into Magic. The layouts need careful differential symmetry, matching-critical device placement, balanced routing, minimized parasitic R/C, appropriate shielding, and disciplined power/ground routing while considering the combined impact on power, propagation delay, and input-referred offset. I can work through the project comparator-by-comparator with GitHub checkpoints: schematic/netlist review → Magic layout → DRC cleanup → your requested layout review → LVS → extraction → post-layout Ngspice verification and final optimization. Deliverables can include the `.mag` files, merged GDSII, DRC/LVS results, extracted parasitic netlists, and Markdown documentation of layout decisions and performance trade-offs. Before committing to final performance targets, I would review the existing Xschem schematics/netlists, device dimensions, testbenches, supply voltage, clock conditions, and current pre-layout simulation results. I’m available to start immediately.
