This is a lightweight pre-launch system focused on: Capturing users (email + username) Generating unique referral codes Tracking referrals Storing all data in Airtable Sending users their referral link automatically ⸻ Scope of Work 1. WordPress + Elementor Build Convert provided design into a pixel-perfect Elementor page Fully responsive (mobile + desktop) Clean, fast, and easy to edit later in Elementor ⸻ 2. Form Setup Using a form plugin (WPForms, Fluent Forms, or similar), capture: • Email • Username • Referral code from URL parameter (?ref=) ⸻ 3. Your approach to generating unique referral codes How it will work: (I’m open to suggestions on this as well) How to generate unique referral links using Airtable The secret isn’t in the landing page—it’s in how you handle the URL parameters. You don’t need a complex backend to start; you just need a simple automation loop. 1. The "Generator" (Airtable) In your Airtable "Users" table, create a Formula Field called Referral Link. Use a formula that combines your website URL with a unique ID for that user. • Example Formula: "[login to view URL]" & RECORD_ID() • Result: [login to view URL] 2. The "Catch" (Landing Page) On your landing page (Framer, Webflow, etc.), add a Hidden Field to your signup form titled referred_by. Most modern builders have a setting to "Map from URL." You tell the form: "If the URL has ?ref= in it, take that value and put it in this hidden field." 3. The "Loop" (Automation) Use a tool like Make or Zapier to connect the two: • Trigger: New form submission on your landing page. • Action: Create a new record in Airtable. The referred_by hidden field value gets saved into a "Referred By" column in your database. • Action: Send an automated email to the new user containing their own unique Referral Link (which Airtable just generated for them). Only first referral counts This system is a high-speed acquisition tool built for creator-led launches. It needs to be simple, clean, and reliable when a creator drops a link to their audience. The Referral Logic The database must be locked so only the first referral is recorded. If someone tries to sign up twice or use different codes later, the system must ignore those duplicates. We need the "referred_by" data to stay original and accurate from the very first click. Handling Traffic Spikes When a creator promotes the link, we’ll see a sudden burst of signups. The automation (Make/Zapier) needs to be set up with a queue or basic error handling so it doesn't drop any leads or crash when 100+ people hit the form at the same time. Email Deliverability The viral loop only works if people actually get their link. We need to use a solid SMTP or email API (like Postmark or SendGrid) to ensure the "Welcome" emails hit the inbox immediately, even during a high-volume push. Data Portability & Migration This is a bridge to our main backend. The Airtable structure must be perfectly organized so the "who-referred-who" chains stay intact. When we move this data to our custom SQL database, it needs to be a clean export/import with zero broken relationships.
