Report outlining future strategies to speed up computers including possibility of using light

Who? Ideally someone with some knowledge about physics, science, research, who already

has sufficient knowledge and/or experience to be able to answer these questions or who

can find the answers themself perhaps by asking someone else.

Task: Produce a microsoft word document report answering the following questions

as well as you can. Innovation is encouraged.

If you have answers to some or all of these questions then please indicate

so in your bid (you don't need to say the answer, just convince me why I want to see

a report document written by you addressing these questions). If you have

qualifications in science or something relevant such as bachelor of science etc

also do let me know in the bid since this makes you look better for this bid

and more likely to be picked.

Answer in summary first then in more detail as the answer progresses, and use diagrams

if relevant (these can be included in the microsoft word document).

The document should be at least two pages long (including diagrams).

1) What methods are likely to make computers faster in the future?

2) What is the potential for computers that use light instead of electricity for

CPU and/or memory. Would it be faster? Show with a diagram one or more examples

of constructing a NAND gate using light, and any other light devices relevant to

achieving this. For example you might know certain materials have certain properties

that could be harnessed in a light device for computers.
