We need a detailed 15-day travel itinerary that takes us to southern and western France, Andora and northern Spain, with Lourdes as the spiritual and geographic centerpiece. The trip should balance in-depth historical sightseeing with key religious pilgrimage moments, building each day around the most significant cathedrals, monasteries, medieval quarters, and World-Heritage villages on both sides of the Pyrenees. While this is a vacation and relaxation, it is also a pilgrimage of sorts. We are experienced travelers and expect to spend 300-500 US dollars per day total for everything except the rental car and airfare. My husband has a neurological disease that makes long walking or prolonged standing difficult but is able to walk and does not require a wheelchair or assist devices. He can drive without difficulty. I can speak basic French and Spanish, and we are comfortable using Google Translate. We have tickets into and out of Barcelona arriving 14 Apr late afternoon and departing 29 Apr morning. We plan to rent a car for the duration of the trip. Please design a logical route that lets us enjoy historic towns, religious sites, viewpoints, culturally significant places or activities, and meaningful interactions. Catholic Mass once or twice a week in addition to Sunday’s is desirable. Cheese, wine, cognac, and monastery tours are great ideas but not required, and we are open to other activities as long as they are in keeping with the overall purpose. Make sure we spend sufficient time in Lourdes for Mass, the evening procession, and a private moment at the Grotto. If medical evaluation for my husband at Lourdes is part of the full experience, please help us arrange for that as well. We need: - Stay in one place for 3-4 days and use that as a base for day trips. - Emphasis on activities/sites, not on fine dining. Simple eating, authentic family style places, grocery store, or very small local café’s are preferred. - Any tours in English and by locals. - Assistance with local sim card (e-card preferred) to ensure we have internet access most of the time. We have a Samsung that takes a physical sim card and iPhone 16s. - Avoid large crowds if possible. We do not want to visit Nice or Cannes or Monaco. - We have seen the Sagrada Familia before but my husband loves it and if it is possible to see again without large crowds, prolonged standing or waiting we would do it again; however, if these are not possible then we will be fine not seeing it again. - No prolonged standing or walking/hiking/climbing. - Sufficient rest and sleep each day. - Outdoor adventures such as very short hikes to hilltop chapels or coastal viewpoints are welcome if they flow naturally with the historical and pilgrimage focus, and are not too steep, but they should remain optional side notes rather than the core of the plan. - Accuracy is essential. Verify dates, distances, and service times, and make sure nothing conflicts with typical regional holidays or weekly closings. We would like you to: • Map out each travel day in sequence, indicating the city or village, key cultural sights, recommended cafés/restaurants/groceries, and any special local events that may fall within our travel window. • Choose and book charming bed and breakfasts. We’re after character properties—stone farmhouses, family-run guesthouses, historic townhouses—rather than hotels or large vacation rentals. Ensure all lodgings have private bathrooms, on-site parking and breakfast included. Please avoid places that require much climbing of stairs. • Arrange or clearly outline transport between stops (rail, rental car, or reputable bus lines). Keep driving stretches under four hours where possible; for rail, provide train numbers and departure times. • Include estimated travel times, links to tickets or passes, and straightforward directions (Google Maps links are fine). • Supply a concise budget breakdown so we can see where the money goes before you confirm any bookings. • Deliver final booking confirmations or voucher PDFs once we approve the proposed plan. Acceptance criteria 1. A day-by-day PDF itinerary (plus editable Word or Google Doc) that covers the full 15 days, with embedded links and high-level map visuals. 2. Confirmed reservations for all bed and breakfasts, summarized with contact details and cancellation policies. 3. Transport plan that we can follow without guesswork, including ticket links or pre-purchased passes. 4. All reservations and tickets organized no later than one week before departure. You are free to use tools such as Rome2Rio, RailEurope, [login to view URL], or direct property websites—whatever guarantees accuracy and reliability. We’ll be on hand to approve suggestions quickly, so feel free to propose creative side trips (e.g., Carcassonne ramparts, the Guggenheim in Bilbao, or Costa Brava coves) as long as the overall pace remains comfortable.
