I have a 40 Year Building Life Cycle spreadsheet that I would like to add a dashboard capability to. I would like slicers , graphs etc. to present the data in a graphical way so clients can assess long term costs more simply. I'm open to design ideas.
I would like users to be able to filter costs by category, (as per the 11 categories on the attached excel file), and for other characteristics such as Essential, Life Cycle, Desirable etc. and to view these over time and for specific time periods.
The data is currently arranged per year (normally presented with columns hidden and only the 5 year grouped costs shown).
I would also like users to be able to adjust time frames for replacement based on their approach to risk - have the spreadsheet set up for 3 replacement strategies (Conservative, Moderate and Aggressive) which changes all the cells in the applicable column. I would like the user to be able to define item risks individually by using the "Varied" option but currently can't get this to work as it replaces the formula in the cell contents with text and it can't be set back.
I am also open to an Excel wizard making the formulas more elegant, or resistant to inadvertent errors or user inputs - I am a basic user at best.
