Please carefully read the below description. The project is looking for bids to create the formatting tool or a combination of the scraping and formatting tool. I will not consider auto bids that do not demonstrate the bidder has looked at the project, data and specifications of work required and is able to produce a tool that I can use on an on-going basis. If the tool includes web scraping, then I would need to be able to specify tracks and dates.
I will wait for a couple of days before accepting the winning bid. To be successful bidder, please include small data sample of what the tool would be able to produce FROM THIS WEBSITE – please do not send me samples of other work from other sites – that is not relevant to see whether you can do this job. Please examine the attached workbook to see how the data is changed.
This is the process that I currently use.
Go to: [login to view URL]
Select meeting – for example - Richmond C – 24/4/2019
And click on the E in the red circle
Number of previous runs to display: ensure “CAREER” is selected
For each race (there is usually 1 -12) I use Firefox and the add-on “TABLE TO EXCEL”
I select all tables, copy selected and then paste into blank excel sheet. I do this for each race and just keep pasting into the same Excel sheet. Once all has been pasted in, then I need to clean up and sort the data – this is the process that required automation.
The tool I need created will allow me to apply it to each of these Excel sheets that I create by the above method. It will get rid of the data that I don’t need, format and arrange columns as per the example workbook I have attached. TAB 1 in the workbook is the data as it is copied from TABLE TO EXCEL. The 2nd TAB is what that data needs to finish up looking like, with the formatting and columns in that order. I have only done Races 1 & 2 for Richmond C on 24/4/2019 as an example.
DATA CLEAN UP
Insert new Column A
Copy each dog’s name and paste into Col A next to relevant data
Please ensure there are no leading or trailing spaces in dogs name when it is pasted into Col A
Each sheet should contain the header row as shown on TAB 2 (freeze top row)
Col A = Text
Col B = Text
Col C = Number no decimals (remove minus symbol, just numbers 1 - 8 with no brackets or -)
Col D = blank
Col E = Text
Col F = Number no decimals
Col G = Text
Col H = Date (1st format option in Excel)
Col I = Number 2 decimals
Col J = Number 2 decimals – if blank insert N/A
Col K = Number 2 decimals – if blank insert N/A
Col L to Col T = blank
Col U = text
Col V = Number 2 decimals
Col W = blank
Col X = Currency $ symbol 2 digits
Col Y = text
Col Z = Number 2 decimals
The tool I want created can apply all the above to any Excel sheet.
If it works better, I would be happy if the tool automatically scraped the data from the website to avoid this being done manually and having to use Firefox/Table to Excel to do the job.
