Sorry, not sure if "Specialty" of Desktop Software Development is correct category. I am looking for help to use desktop softwares (microsoft excel, access, etc), that will utilize network switch output in text format, to EXTRACT or EXTRAPOLATE specific data of my choosing. I dont have access to Web Servers, Apache, Linux, etc...just Windows Desktops with Microsoft Applications, so I cannot use anything else. The output is mostly consistent, each line containing keywords/elements, that I'd like help taking the data out of the text file and organizing it in either Excel or Access, in a way to where I can then filter, organize, report on even perform additional actions against later. The text file can be from ONE SWITCH containing 1000's of lines, or it could be from ALL switches, containing 100,000's of lines. Again, the data will be similar whether 1 SWITCH or 150 SWITCHES, its the text file that will be smaller or larger, but output will be similar either way. The goal is to use Excel or Access (regular desktop softwares), to point to and pull in from a text file, and pull out ONLY specific lines of data, but after pulling it out...organizing it in a way that it can then be filtered, sorted, reported on, etc. An example: 1 output text file can range of lines in output data, like 1 switch output (approx 1,050 lines) to another switch stack output (approx 32,000 lines), or possibly against all switches outputs combined (approx 365,000 lines) These lines are specifically about the switches interfaces (ports), statistics of the port(s), etc. But, 95% +/- of the data in the output is useless to me....as to acquire the data sought, I must run specific commands that in turn, supply extraneous/extra/unwanted output - so most of the lines in the file are not usable nor wanted....this is where the "EXTRACT" or "EXTRAPOLATION" comes in...I only want/need specific lines from the text file like the following: Switch Name (hostname of switch) Physical Interface (ge-1/0/20, or xe-1/1/19) Carrier Transitions (counts of flaps/bounces) Drops (packet loss count(s)) Last Flapped (recorded flap/bounce/up/down, incl time, weeks, days, hours, minutes summary) Statistics Last Cleared (never, or specific date, time, weeks, days, hours, minutes summary) Ideally, I'd like to see the following format in the end - again, whether it is ONE SWITCH, TWO SWITCHES, TEN SWITCHES or ONE HUNDRED FIFTY SWITCHES....the data output remains alike in the text file...just need to get ONLY info wanted, from TEXT FILE into Excel or Access, organized in a way that it can then be easier, faster, better to search, filter, find and report on specifics. I will upload 2 files as examples to this project for review; 1 = text file of switch output, command(s) issued and returned results from switch and its layout/format 2 = a possible (preferred) way i would like to see the end data (after pulling out ONLY/JUST the data desired from the text file) - rows/columns and how it can then be further manipulated easier, faster and more efficiently once pulled in and organized. The types/kinds of filtering I would most likely use: Carrier Transitions: highest numbers/values Drops: highest numbers/values Last Flapped: oldest dates or recent dates Statistics Last Cleared: oldest dates or recent dates I must be able to SUCCESSFULLY test the final delivered solution against the file(s) I have, to ensure that even with ONE SWITCH, TEN SWITCHES, FIFTY SWITCHES or ONE HUNDRED FIFTY SWITCHES, the solution delivered will work correctly and properly with ANY text file used. It will EXTRACT and ORGANIZE only the specific data I want from the file. Freelancer must be willing to take time to show Buyer process, to Buyer can understand how it works, why it works the way it does and learn from the delivered solution.
