We are looking to build a large scale sophisticated game for use on mobile devices. The game development will need both Client and Server side development. If you have had EXPERIENCE developing large scale games with client AND server sides then please continue reading...
The game will resemble a new-age version of the pokemon and digimon type games. The objective of the player will be to build teams of "pets" to train and fight against other REAL players (i.e. their friends). These fights will use a turn-based style of gameplay. A player will have multiple "pets", each one will have different statistics, fighting moves, strengths etc. The player will also have an itinerary of items that can help assist their "pets" in fighting or help to heal after a fight. The player will use a virtual currency to buy items from a virtual marketplace, and this virtual currency can be purchased using In App Purchases within the game.
The UI for this game will need to be highly polished and present beautifully. Original artwork and animations will be a high priority, and if needed can be outsourced to a specialist graphics/animations team.
A player must be able to have multiple fights against other players running simultaneously. Player achievements will also need to be incorporated into the games design.
The client side development must be deployable on both iOS and Android devices. For this a cross-platform developing suite (corona, lua, cocos2d-x etc.) could be used to avoid rewriting code.
As mentioned above, the main objective of this game is for players to fight each others' "pets". This will require a centralised server that can talk to the clients (either an iOS or Android device) to retrieve each players' moves. These moves will then be input to an algorithm sitting on the server which will then return the outcome of that particular turn and send it to the clients which will then display this. The server will also need to handle the setup of a fight, whether it is against a friend or a stranger.
The server side will need to hold player info such as unique login IDs and passwords, players stats, current games active etc. Each active fight will need to have a unique match ID and contain a history log of the match's events. Although not necessary at this stage of development, any experience with Facebook integration (similar to "Draw Something") for finding friends to play with would be highly regarded.
The games below are good examples of what we are looking to build in terms of great UI/UX and client/server functionality (using a multiplayer turn based gameplay).
-Words With Friends
More detail into the gameplay, UI and UX will be provided to the chosen developers.
So if you have developed this type of cross-platform, multiplayer mobile game before then please send through some examples of your work and any further questions you may have with this project. Serious developers with working games on the app stores only please.
Thanks, I look forward to hearing from you and seeing your previous work!
