This is a logo design project for a starting consulting partnership (MacroForecasters) in financial and economic forecasting. The main business is to provide timely and accurate forecasts of economic indicators and financial market indicators.
Main requirements for the logo:
# Appropriate for "the business world", especially big corporations in the financial (and related) service industries. For example, the logo should not contain controversial symbols for certain social groups or cultures (e.g., no religion reference/implication); and the logo should be of regular shape (like square, rectangular, round, or slightly rotated basic shapes, but not irregular (e.g., animal shape) shapes), modern (not like from the middle ages, no fancy borders that are for decorative purpose only), and unique (at least not too similar to any existing, well-recognized logo).
# Is either (1) letter based, or abstract but with letter like patterns/symbols embedded in the design; OR (2) relatively simple/abstract, but meaningful design without letters implied. Examples that falls under category (1) include logo of MIT, or GE and examples that are in category (2) include logo of The Conference Board ([url removed, login to view]). It's ok to do something in the spirit of the ones here: [url removed, login to view]
# Suitable for both color and B&W print on both dark and light background, and for digital display (say, on websites or on presentation slides)
# Color should conform to the first requirement. Something no more "colorful" than the NBC logo. The main color should be some type of blue, preferably on the darker end (but light enough to use on dark background). Something in the spirit of the TCB logo here [url removed, login to view] is ok (of course, not the exact color). Don't use both red and green.
# Not too complicated. The logo should show up and be recognized well even when printed/displayed in smaller size - for example, on business cards. Think Apple or Microsoft. (Microsoft maybe too much of an extreme, so don't make it like that.)
# The logo should of course conform to all requirements of law. For example, not use any copyright protected design or trademark of another company, etc.
Currently the logo is primarily used for web display and on printed newsletters and other publications. The name of the website is MacroForecasters.com.
The designer should be able to provide at least 3 designs initially and be prepared to make revisions until both of us are satisfied.
Of course the final logo should be delivered as vector graphics along with all source files. The final logo should be delivered in four versions: color on dark background, color on light/white background, black and white on dark background, black and white on white background. You should deliver the font if any text is used in the logo.
The designer should not reuse the final completed logo or any part of it in other works. But feel free to include in your portfolio.
If we are satisfied with the logo, we might follow up on possible design work on things like business cards, letterhead, newsletters, binders, etc.
