Operational Database For Maintenance / Daily Reporting

Our business is a civil services business. We provide equipment, plant and personnel to complete work/provide services for the following:

- build roads & carparks

- work to build schools, industrial buildings

- equipment & personnel hire

- truck hire for sand and gravel transport

- waste disposal

During the daily activities of our business, we are required to perform a daily check of the equipment in the morning by the equipment operator. This is normally a manual process by the operator, recorded in a paper file if at all recorded.

We are required to record maintenance daily as mandated by clients and legal requirements.

I want to develop a database that is portable in the field and downloadable back at the office. My vision was an iPad deployed Filemaker/Bento solution that is uploaded back in the office. There may be several iPads operating in the field at any one time, which is backloaded in the office on to a desktop and backed up.

I also want to incorporate in the database

- client contact details from our accounting/sales quoting & estimating

software (download as a excel and repopulate into fielmaker??)

- subcontractor contact details

- employee contact details

- record daily maintenance check

- record maintenance performed on the equipment

- maintenance & equipment history for each piece of equipment

- restrictions on which data is available to certain employees

i.e. all employees can input maintenance and daily checks , but only super users can delete events

I have attached a file with possible data record fields required for the data base

- I need a person who is a Filemaker Pro expert

- Able to program and present the data set I require in a user friendly/user encouraging environment

- Able to produce simplified data entry screen on the iPad for technicians with little portable electronic device experience

- Willing to commit to the future support of the development of the data base

Job Description:

Your responsibilities:

- Review business requirements working with other team members

- Perform a technical analysis of requirements

- Produce a solid, detailed technical design

- Write clean, modular, robust code to implement the desired requirements with little or no supervision

- Work with the QA and Customer Support teams to triage and fix bugs with rapid turnaround

- Contribute ideas for making the application better and easier to use

Your qualifications:

- Programming language(s): Filemaker Pro , open to other portable solutions

- A work style that is extremely detail oriented

- Strong communication skills

- A complete Elance profile

- References or an established reputation on Elance preferred
