Mercury Rising is a three-year long fundraising campaign to transform the Mercury Theatre’s buildings and safeguard them for the future. The £9m campaign has £1.5m left to raise from the community, individual giving, and trusts and foundations.
We are seeking a graphic designer and/or copywriter to support us in producing a community fundraising pack, which friends and supporters of the theatre can use to organise their own fundraising events. We intend to draw inspiration from the wealth of similar materials which already exist in the charity sector.
We welcome quotes for delivery of both design and copywriting, or either brief in isolation.
The deadline for quotes is noon on Monday 21st August. Due to summer annual leave, we will be able to provide clarification on the brief and answer any questions from Tuesday 8th August.

RESPONDING TO THE BRIEF
Questions and requests for clarification, and any quote, should be sent by email to marketing@[login to view URL] marked for the attention of Amy Bleasdale, Marketing Manager. You are welcome to include a portfolio, or a link to an online portfolio as part of your submission.
If you intend to price by element or by time and materials (rather than a fixed price delivery of the outputs), this should be broken down in your quote.
We aim to send the pack to print on Monday 18th September. In the event that the brief is split, we would assign 2.5 weeks to both the copywriter and the designer.
GRAPHIC DESIGN BRIEF
The pack will consist of a C4 envelope with Mercury Rising design on the front face, and will contain the following materials:
8 page A4 glossy booklet
Sponsorship form (plus downloadable extra forms)
Donating / paying in form
A3 and A4 fold-out posters for advertising an event
A3 and A4 thank you posters
Freepost envelope to return the form in
There will be a cafepress account to enable fundraisers to buy t-shirts, mugs etc. We would like two reusable images for these outputs.
We will supply examples of existing campaign materials, copies of logos, photos and boilerplate copy.
Brand guidance and fonts will be supplied.
We welcome creativity in the layout of the booklet. A guide to its contents is given below to facilitate this.
Drawing inspiration from other successful community fundraising campaigns, we would like to produce:
Introduction letter (single side of A4)
8 page A4 glossy booklet containing:
- Introduction and thanks (400 words)
- What you can do - inspiration, ideas & tips (minimum of one double page spread)
- Where your money is going / what we plan to achieve (400 words updating existing copy)
- Gift Aid information - how to collect GIft Aid correctly (200 words, guidance available from HMRC, and example forms available from our existing materials)
Promoting your fundraising activity - posters, social media, blogs, newspaper etc (400 words)
- Useful info re legal, health and safety, data protection etc

We would require an initial draft of all materials to be shared with the Mercury for comments. We envisage a maximum of three iterations.
