Gaming character for project

Learning game design for Indie project <being used in the GameMaker 2.0 software suite> and need a lead character that is designed for me to edit as I wish, ideally fully editable .Ai and .PS formats that I can work with, edit as I wish without infringing on any copyright or left, scale-up/down, add to, adapt and grow the character if I so wish or need to at a later date. I would need a number of action movements i.e. chopping, attacking etc, to use as the sprites in the gameplay.
The hero is a sword-wielding <or any handheld weapon> hand fighting <hand to hand skills> Pig <as in animal> called PoRK Chop. As this level of starting out, I need something not too pixelated but the game will have a retro gameplay feel. I might also need some scrolling backgrounds. This will be a side-scrolling fighting action type game.
This is a learning exercise side project for me to work out the dynamics and if the ideas will work and could be developed a bit more.
