Project: Ticketmaster Dropchecker
Company: Minuteman Tickets
Point of Contact: Josh Rackow
My name is Josh Rackow and I work for a ticket brokerage in Columbus, Ohio. We buy and sell tickets for concerts, sporting events, theater, and the like through various means. One of our avenues of acquiring tickets worth reselling are pieces of software we call dropcheckers. In the ticketing industry shows never release all their tickets at the same time. Even shows that are “sold out” often have tickets held back that will be released unannounced. We have some web-based apps that we use for sites like [login to view URL] and would like to investigate having one built specifically for Ticketmaster.com.
Basically how a dropchecker works is that we take events that we know are sold out and add them to the software that will then track that event on the website that is hosting it. What I mean by tracking is that the websites inventory will refresh and reload without warning and tickets that weren’t available 5 seconds ago can suddenly become available for purchase to the first person that notices they are there. We need a program that we can add events to track ( each site is different some use event tags within the URL, others need the entire URL, I’m not sure how Ticketmaster would classify their events) that the program could then repeatedly check at predetermined intervals, of say every 30 seconds, to see if new tickets have been released for that event. Then if there have been new tickets released we would need it to send us an email and/or SMS notification.
