I am making an API call to the gmail API and getting an HTML email back. I want to display this on my web page (it is a simple web email client front end to Gmail.)
However, I am having a few issues:
1. I am concerned about security -- making sure it is stripped of dangerous elements like script tags and inline event handlers. (BTW it isn't enough to say "Gmail already cleans that", I will use other email providers too.)
2. I am concerned with bleed of styles from the embedded email into the containing page (that is limiting the scope of style tags to only apply to the embedded email, and not have style tags in the page apply to the embedded email -- I believe the shadow dom is a solution to this)
3. When email images refer to cid attachments rather than to on the web images, I need the adjustment to be made as necessary.
Any other issues that prevent the email from being displayed correctly embedded and bounded by an enclosing page.
So I need a function called something like this:
