Receipt App Device

The computers used at the point of sale would scan the items as normal

The receipt would be generated as normal

the items would be paid for as normal

But when the receipt is to be printed on the thermal printer, we want the user to scan a barcode or some sort of identification. so the receipt is sent to a data base under the user's profile.

The user signs in on the app and can see that receipt in real time

meanwhile, a copy of the receipt is stored for the computer

additionally, the device should be able to print the receipt if the customer also wants a paper receipt

The app where the user signs in would be able to organize receipts by merchants and maybe by what the items on the receipts are

The design aims to replace thermal printers. Ideally, it should work wirelessly with cards or the wireless capabilities embedded in phones. The device would be portable and work with most software used at the Point of Sale in North America/ Canada. This includes voltage specifications and transmission of data to the computer. In the design stages, an Ethernet cable would be used to send the data to the database. The software may not be an issue if the new device generates and registers with Windows, Linux, smoothly. The biggest challenge in this project would be how the design would reach from the device to the database. The data is supposed to be sent with an ID of customers so they can have access to the receipts in the future. Data of transactions would be sent by the scanning device, a wireless technology or the computer software.

If this is achieved, Asset Solutions can analyze that data and give general feedback to consumers and businesses to provide better services or products. They can target their products and supply chains more efficiently with real time feedback.

Questions pertinent to possible designs:

How would the machine know where to send the data?

Would it be automatic?

The database on our end isn’t created yet. What infrastructure would be needed for this?

The device can have a added WiFi capability to send customer data to the database. That way we don't need Ethernet ports for it.

Another possibility is to integrate this to work with a credit card processing company. Being able to integrate it into a credit card machine would be great for later phase designs. To merge the credit card machine and printer replacement, would an RFID scanner be useful? Instead new scanning chip/different technology? Barcode Scanner?

All the bird requires is your dedication to their endeavor and a one page proposal (not including any specifics. Just an outline of the proposed design) to be considered. This document is non-negotiable and you should not commit if you’re unable to provide this.
