I am looking for a simple site search script written in java script Jquery or flash css whatever works best that performs a site search of any site I specify. See example below.
//Enter domain of site to search.
var domainroot="[[url removed, login to view]]"
curobj.q.value="site:"+domainroot+" "+[url removed, login to view]
<form action="<[url removed, login to view]>" method="get" onSubmit="Gsitesearch(this)" style="height:20px" >
<span class="style2">Search sitename for:</span>
<input name="q" type="hidden" />
<input name="qfront" type="text" style="width: 190px" height="20" /> <input type="submit" value="Search" /
This example searchs the specified site and sends the user to goole page with all the links pointing that include the sting to be searched for. The look is too simple and crude. It generatessomething that looks like this:
Search Your Website for:
Text Box input field
Grey button that says "Search".
I would like a fancier looking box such as this example:
<[url removed, login to view]>
There are more details in the section below.
Features I would like it to have:
1. I would need you to supply a graphical image of a magnifing glass. I would like it to animate (move in a small circle like it is searching) when the mouse moves over it.
2. The initial Search phrase will fade away when mouse moves over the text input box.
3. This script or plugin needs to be configurable using xml file or within the script itself.
a. Setting to allow control of background color of the text box. It is important that it can be transparent letting the page color or page background to show through if I desire.
b. Setting for the background of the the search button (the maginfying glass icon) should also be able to be set to a color or transparent if desired.
c. Setting pointing to graphic image file of magnifying glass image. This is so I can change the image to something different if desired.
d. Setting to control the fade out rate of text when mouse goes over the text box.
e. Setting allowing me to point to the website that I want Google to search. I only want results that point to the website I am searching.
Other features desired:
If it is possible (this is optional) to do I would like that instead of the search results showing up in a redirected to google page. I would like the google results displayed on my site in a special results page on my website. For more explanation see. How to put Google custom site search into your current website design. <[url removed, login to view]>
You can do this or something better if you like. If this is possible a special code fragment will be needed so that the search results can be placed and displayed on a search page template that I create for my website. I will just add the code snippet within a div or inside a table cell that will load the results from a temp file created on the website or better yet from a input paramater or variable that has the search results stored in it.
The search will work like this, the user types in a string to search and then a new search page is displayed hopefully within the website that the user is on. If that can't be done the user will ss a display on the google website with links pointing to the website that is being searched.
