I want the code to embed RealPlayer controls to play a WMV video file in a web page. The new Realplayer 11 plays wmv video files perfectly. So anyone who installs the new RealPlayer on their PC, Mac or Linux should see the wmv video in the embedded Realplayer in Firefox, IE, Opera and Safari or at least in Firefox (Mozilla) and IE. Preferably it would work in all the above browsers.
I do not want to use the standard Windows Media Player embed code because WMP is not free for everyone to install and is not available for all OSes. Whereas RealPlayer is free for everyone on all OSes. And I still need to embed wmv files. I cannot use the new MS Silverlight because it does not support the 96 KHz, 24-bit audio quality of my wmv videos. So the only option is to directly embed the wmv via realplayer on a page.
I tried the standard RealPlayer object and embed code but it is not working for wmv video files and in Firefox (Mozilla) it is showing up as garbage instead of a player. I do not mind using Realplayer in a Java applet if a direct object and embed code is not possible but I would prefer a direct solution first. I would expect you can do it on your test server and then give me the code.
The below site gives the code to embed realplayer for playing rm files but when I use the wmv file url instead of rm, it does not seem to work and also the code does not seem to work in Firefox.
