Uplift JAVA Project & Tutoring

Job Description:
I have a currently production JAVA project I'm responsible for that won't build to newer versions. We keep it on an older version so it runs. I have JAVA SE 17 on my machine I'd like to build it to. Anything 17 and up I'm willing to use. So I need someone familiar with JAVA to take what works on an earlier version, not sure which one it uses, and uplift it to a newer version, 17 or higher. It was built in Eclipse. Also, I am somewhat familiar with JAVA, and I've done dev in VB, C++, C#, but not really JAVA. I've self-educated myself, but I'm not very proficient. I need help understanding this application with 1on1 tutoring as well. I will take bids for the uplift and will then pay you an hourly rate for your 1on1 tutoring time. Please specify your hourly rate and availability to meet and talk in the bid. Expect at least 20+ hours to tutor me, with 2 sessions per week.
The project needing uplift function roughtly as follows:
1. Picks up data files from a directory resident on the server it resides in and processes them for information:
1a. by taking a template xml file.
1b. and composing xml documents with the data.
1c. by replacing the tags in the template with the data.
2. Then writes out each of these entries as an xml based letter document, suitable for opening in Word.
3. Then FTPs the completed letter files over to a client's ftp.
