I have a podcast widget player based on the JW player. It is working now, however we need to edit the JW player source code to add one more feature. It was written for me by a developer who knows flash and action script and did a great job with the graphics and operation of the player, but does not know how enough about the JW player itself to make it play ".mp3?suffix" files.
I know that the JW player is capable of playing ".mp3?suffix" files because the basic "off the shelf" version of the JW player will play them, so I think that this is a very simple change that someone who is a JW player source code expert could fix in a very short amount of time. I think it might only require a change to the [url removed, login to view] module, but I'll provide you all the existing code so that you can make other modifications if needed.
This is for a podcast (mp3) streaming application. The reason for the "?suffix" is that many different podcast feeds can reference a single mp3 file on my server. The feeds are represented as a playlist in the JW player. However based on the "?suffix" the server will return a customized version of the requested mp3 file. The mp3 file that is returned from the server is a standard mp3 file in the .mp3 format (no suffix). The JW player merely needs to pass through the file with request with the ".mp3?suffix". The current version that is implemented in the widget does not pass this through for some reason. However, the standard "off the shelf" JW player will pass this through without any problem, so I suspect that this is a very simple fix for someone who is a JW player source code expert.
Additional info: The widget which needs to be modified is based on JW 3.14. This is one where I need the source code modified to play the ".mp3?suffix" files. The older player on my site (from 2007) which does play the ".mp3?suffix" files is based on JW 3.5.
