I need a slideshow that will take as its input a list of still images that will be generated by another script (php with a mysql backend). The slideshow is to be used for an in-house (non-internet) auction. The idea is to show the next few lots up for bid in quick succession, to let the bidders see what is coming up next. A computer operator will specify when the slideshow starts and after the images are shown it'll stop (it should not loop). This will only run on one computer that'll have a tv output and be fed onto a cctv network.
The number of images used each time the script is activated will be from 3 to 9 (determined by the other script). The images will be 50k - 500k in size of various dimensions. Since the images are hosted on an internal network bandwidth is not an issue. Each image should be displayed full screen with no distortion and on a black background.
Visually I need the slideshow to perform as such: start with a black screen and the first image slides into view from the right. When the entire image is in view it pauses for 1 second and then slides off the screen to the left while the next image slides in from the right and pauses for 1 second. The next image should be sliding in at the same time the previous one is sliding off (like it is pushing the other one along). This is to be repeated for all images. The last image will fade out instead of sliding off the screen.
The speed of the slide should be variable so we can tweek it at run time. But overall each slide needs to be fast, taking no more than 1 second to completely slide on or off the screen. If loading the images slows the output down the script could preload the images so that it can play quickly once it's activated.
Any creative ideas to make this better would be appreciated.
