I would like a quot to build a function in code using PowerBuilder 2019R for an existing application.
I want the feature as PowerBuilder code, and not as a .dll, so I can maintain and modify it if necessary. Moreover, I do not want a .dll because, from past experiences, off-site developed .dll’s often fail to register properly when instantiated from PowerBuilder.
This what I am after. It is for an existing application developed in PowerBuilder 2019R that handles forensic research material. I want to add a dimension for what is called forensic language analysis.
I want the function to accept a MS Word document, I would assume as an OLE Object. This MS Word document may be a transcript of an interview or a witness statement, etc.
The PowerBuilder Code will access a table in MS SQL Server that has a column for words or small phrases, and a corresponding number column ( the numbers in this column represent an ‘underline’ or a colour, ie 1 is underline, red is 2, 3 is green, 4 is blue, 5 is yellow etc.)
I don’t remember 1
The requirement is that the PowerBuilder code accesses the table (the ‘connection’ to the DB would have already been effected elsewhere in the program). Code in the function would loop through, row-by-row, get the word or phrase, and then search through the MS Word document and, if it encounters the word or phrase, colour-highlights it (or underlines) dependant on the corresponding number code.
The code continues its search till the end of the document and highlights any new encounter.
It then does the same with the next word or phrase from the table.
I will prepare and populate the MS SQL Server Table (you would only need to set up a small table to be utilised for development0.
The highlighted MS Word document is then opened for display in a MS Word ole for display on a tap page in the application. The MS Word presentation would appear as in the attached file (I've had to put a default value in the 'Skills' requirement to proceed with this post, but I need a PowerBuilder Programmer)
