I am setting up a proxy server. the Proxy server will run CentOS or Ubuntu. I prefer to run this on CentOS, but any viable Linux distro will work if there are compelling reasons to use a specific build. Debian, SUSE ect. My first choice is CentOS. This Proxy server will be a VM. I am considering using Squid, but will also consider using any other reputable Proxy Server software.
This server will record internet use for the users on the network and also block facebook, myspace, and pintrest. I'd like to have a way to keep a record of sites visited by way of this proxy. The proxy sits behind a Cisco ASA.
I'd also like an automated way to send the records to a NAS and then purge the records from the proxy server (this is not critical to the job).
This is for assistance as I would like to learn how this is set up and created. I would like to be able to set a second instance of this up on my own with out assistance.
