I need someone to review the accelerometers currently available on the world market and advise which two or three would be most suitable for the following application:
The idea is to assemble a number of accelerometers, say four, that will be mounted on one rigid body as a set. Generally as per the attached 3-d sketch. The rigid body will experience intermittent motion caused by external excitement. The motion will be in all 3 planes. The extent of movement will be in the region of <2m, and the accelerations will be in the region of <10g.
Accelerometers need to be enabled to push the movement data as it occurs to an external data collection point, and for this purpose, it is envisaged that a SIM card will be attached to one special acc. or every one in the group, and then the movement data for the whole group will be sent to an external data collection point via a mobile phone signal. The working conditions have to be assumed as harshest possible, with salt water environment and external temperatures in the range of -25 to +50 C.
These have to be robust and cost effective. Anticipated life span to be >10yrs. Desired with longest possible self-powering arrangements (eg. batteries).
Once the prospective accelerometers are identified, we would need assistance in specifying the whole set, up to and including the point of upload of signal to the SIM card.
