Scanned pages going into a docx usually break in the same two places, and both come from trusting the OCR layer. Words split at a line break come through hyphenated, so recog- nition sits there broken in the middle of a sentence, and every italic flattens to roman because OCR throws the emphasis away and you can't get it back out of the text file afterward. So OCR is only my first pass, and then I read each page against the image and put the emphasis back by hand, and I sweep the hyphen plus line break pattern so none of the split words survive into what you get. Headings go in as Word heading styles, which keeps the document navigable and lets you restyle the whole file later from one place. Honest limit: if the scans are skewed or low contrast the OCR pass is worth very little and the job turns into straight typing, which is slower, and if any pages are handwritten I'd want to see those before I take them on. I keep a running list of the typos I corrected so you can check my calls on the ones that weren't obvious. Does page for page mean hard page breaks matching each scan, or the same text in order with Word flowing it?
