Iphone ripple on 12V vehicle power
I want an iphone app which will display the frequency of any AC ripple on the 12VDC line in a vehicle on the screen of the iphone, with the frequency being updated every X seconds. I want to pickup the ripple created by the alternator of a vehicle, so I can work out if the engine is running and if so, what rpm it is doing (This will require calibration).
I don’t know whether this can be done with software alone, or if I will need to have some electronics external to the iphone. I don’t want to interface to any engine management system. I would prefer the microphone input on the iphone not to be used.
The purpose of the software is to be a proof of concept.
The Variables that can be changed by the user are:
1) Ripple % - This is a variable that allows different configurable sensitivities to ensure it will work for all vehicles. This may or may not be required.
2) Calibration Constant. This is a constant which when multiplied by the ripple frequency gives RPM.
3) Update frequency (seconds)
There are only two screens:
1) Main Screen which displays the following:
a) The frequency or if no ripple is detected, then 0.
b) The calibrated RPM.
2) Configuration Screen.
This displays any variables that can be configured. Clicking on any variables must bring up a keyboard which allows the user to change the variables. All variables must be stored in a database on the iphone, and must be maintained if the app is closed and reopened.
The software must work on Iphone 3 and iphone 4. It would be good to know what would be involved with making it work on the Android devices.
Source Code which can be compiled by me to create the app which will run on the iphone. No libraries or API’s are to be used without written permission from me.
The intellectual property to this app and the process will be owned by me.
The developer is not to disclose any code or information about this project to any third party without my written permission.
What I need from any possible developers:
Price to provide the source code to carry out the above functionality.
Delivery Time frame to provide the source code to carry out the above functionality.
A description of what development system you will use.
A description of what I will need to be able to compile the source code.
A statement saying whether external electronics will be required, and if so is the design of the electronic circuit included in the price.
