As to talk about the development of your app, I will recommend you Firebase as a backend database which is a real time database. If you want some other database then its also acceptable but as far as Firebase is concerned, it is managed by Google itself that is more suitable for networked applications. Secondly, the same database can also be used in other platforms like IOS, Web etc.
