A given hardware has a ESP32 module with a I2C connected temp/humidity sensor attached. Additional peripherals are LED for status, button for pairing and two pins to detect water flood. The I2C sensor is connected to the ULP processor that frequency checks for dangerous and undesired conditions (programmable by main processor). Also it collects the historic data for temp and humidity on hourly basis. In case an undesired event happens the main process or woken up.
Main processor is woken up on button, ULP and external pin shortcut. Depending on settings WIFi communication is established and data and alarm is sent into AWS IOT cloud. In parallel its desired that the device also acts as Homekit device using the existing Homekit libs. Firmware furthermore includes setup of WPA key by offering access point function with embedded webserver to pick SSID and WPA key. Main design objective is minimal power consumption, hence use of ULP, deep sleep, ESP 32 stub - if needed.

if the matter is save power and doing some task then sleep for a time I have a pretty better idea than using deep sleep method we just implemented for another project with ESP8266
