Hi
I have been experimenting for weeks but as I am a beginner copy-paste coder, I have been hitting some dead-ends with this Project.
I have a Glide App (a Progressive Web App) which is built for our mountain bike events.
I would like to have an embedded HTML file (if possible) whereby we can track a users GPS position and share it with other user's GPS position using their mobile device. The user can see their GPS position relative to a Custom Map which contains data on the course (polygons, points, text). This custom map could be a Google Map or KML file or similar.
This will help us see in realtime all the people (riders, spectators and event crew) out on a mountain bike course.
Having the ability to 'click' on a GPS point to see the user or search for a user is also very important.
My research which led me here:
- I started using Mapbox and Pubnub but I was only able to display 1 moving point
- I played around with Google Maps but was worried that it might not work on Glide Apps once published in their relative App stores
- I tried Google Sheets with some 'dummy' GPS locations acting as an API for Mapbox but it seemed to timeout
It looks like Mapbox and Pubnub is the more suitable application but I am open to anything. The priority is being able to view all users locations on a realtime map (so when a user moves, the map pointer moves) and searching for a user.
There might need to be some initial interface of entering your name before using the GPS tracking feature in the Glide App?
Cheers
Steve
