I do only fixed price projects. Do the firmware for openwrt (which device ?) and backend (PHP, mysql), ubuntu preferred. Comms via GET/PUT or MQTT ?

mostly openwrt source support HTML/JavaScripting based code. so you should add the mini Apache and php support and re built from source. let me know the detail of your php/MySQL requirement, so important could code using soap/asal method
