This project requires a custom macro to be written.
Every day we ftp into some of our data servers and get some files from there by using get command. Once they are downloaded on the workststion, I open them with excel and format them to get them in required recognisable form. Operations on excel to do this are - select all, sort ascending, deleting rows with redundent data in top of worksheet, text to column for entire sheet, deleting not required colums, renaming required colums,selecting amount colums & rmoving non numeric characters in it by replace option, formating to currency, subtotal, deleting again rows at end with redundant data, totaling amounts by groups; and finally saving the file.
Based on the classification information for the sub-total amounts in excel; the sub-total amounts are added again to 4 different categories. The totals in 4 categories are then compared against manually entered numbers in another excell file to find the deviation in numbers.I want to automate this job on daily
