I'm looking to launch a sports picks website.
The website is to provide an exciting user experience by allowing users to pick the winners of each [sport tba] fixture during a week, giving that user a score (based on correct predictions and a tie-breaker) and ranking them within their mini-league and the league as a whole (similar to Fantasy Football websites).
We intend to launch the website on 1 July 2009, in time for the start of the 2009/10 season. The primary aim for the first season is to maximise the number of active players (defined as a user who logs in and makes picks for at least 85% of the weeks in the season). A secondary aim is to maximise the number of percentage of active players who are members of a minileague (aim for 90%), as it is envisaged that this will lead to the user playing again in future seasons.
It is envisaged that the website will expand in the future to meet these aims by offering additional competitions. In the first season, capacity for 100,000 users would be required (though costings for various thresholds of maximum users are requested).
A significant future aim will be to maximise advertising revenue generated by the website, and to allow for the possibility of co-branding. However, because it is expected that future advertising opportunities are dependent upon heavy traffic, this is not an aim in the first season (some opportunities may be sought throughout the first season, but not at the expense of membership).
This website is to be launched on two different platforms on 1 July 2009 (in two different locations). Differences will be small, but will affect a number of different areas:
- different logos
- different editorial content (vocabulary and language will change)
- league tables must be separate for each site
We will look to minimise the cost of maintaining two distinct websites.
At this stage I need a quote for building the website (if full content, logos etc was given). Web design is required at some stage, so someone offering skills in both of these areas would be a plus.
Ongoing maintenance and disaster recovery would be required; again it would be an advantage if the same company/person would be responsible for this.
I am looking for:
- basic cost of the project (to be refined after full brief is received)
- your proposal for the technical specs involved
- details of your experience in this type of project
- details of your knowledge of fantasy football
