I'm a solo founder building a social web app with a strong collaborative/multi-user core. It's at private alpha — fully built (~85% of pre-launch scope), running on a staging environment, and I've been the only tester so far. Before I open it up I want a professional exploratory + regression pass from someone who's tested realtime, multi-user apps before, not just marketing sites and simple forms. Being upfront so we're a good fit: this is a part-time hobby project. Work will be sporadic — an initial focused walkthrough now, then occasional short passes as I ship new features or approach launch. This is not a daily or full-time engagement and won't become one. I'm looking for someone happy with an on-and-off relationship they can pick back up when I reach out, not someone needing steady hours. I'll share full product details with whoever I hire. For a public posting I'll keep the description general, but here's what matters for the testing: The shape of the app. Users create and manage their own content, then connect with other users around shared activities. Multiple users can form groups with shared, synchronized state — including a flow where one member edits shared plans and the others are notified and choose how to reconcile the change. There's group chat, direct messaging, a friends/connections system, and a discovery feed that scores compatibility between users. Almost every meaningful surface is multi-user and updates in realtime. What I need tested (the hard parts): Multi-user flows where two or more logged-in accounts interact — this is the core of the app and can't be tested from a single login A shared-state "sync/conflict" flow: one user edits shared data, others get an alert and choose to accept the change or keep their own — state and edge cases here matter a lot Presence/status logic that reflects, across users, who is participating in a given shared item and in what capacity Group chat, direct messages, and connection/friend relationships Authorization / data isolation — treat this as security testing. I need confidence that a user cannot read or access data (private groups, DMs, other users' content) they aren't a member of. If you know Supabase Row-Level Security, say so. Full mobile-web responsiveness across a real device/browser matrix What you'll get from me to make this efficient: A dedicated, stable staging environment (frozen build — it won't change under you mid-test) Pre-seeded test accounts with realistic overlapping data, so multi-user flows work out of the box — no setup tedium on your end A short handoff doc: what the app does, the critical journeys, known issues, and what's explicitly out of scope Fake/seeded data only — no real user information involved Deliverables I'm looking for: A written test plan covering the critical journeys Bug reports with clear repro steps, severity, and screenshots or screen recordings Your documented device/browser matrix Exploratory session notes A reusable regression checklist I can re-run myself after future changes — important to me as a solo dev Ideal background: Demonstrated QA experience on realtime / collaborative / multi-user apps (chat, social, collaborative tools, marketplaces) Comfort testing across mobile browsers on real devices Bonus: familiarity with Supabase / Postgres RLS, or a track record of finding authorization/data-isolation bugs Clear written communication — good bug reports are the whole job To apply, please tell me: A realtime or multi-user app you've tested, and one interesting bug you found in it How you'd verify that one user genuinely can't access another user's private data Your availability for occasional, sporadic work (not steady hours) Please start your reply with the word "waypoint" so I know you read this. Generic copy-paste proposals will be passed over.

Hi, I’m proposing a focused QA risk-management pass for your collaborative app, with emphasis on realtime state, sync/conflict handling, membership rules, and private data isolation across multiple active accounts. These are the areas where multi-user bugs most often appear. I would begin with structured exploratory testing of the core multi-user journeys, then convert findings into a targeted regression checklist. I’ll reproduce sync/conflict scenarios with separate logins, verify chat and connection behavior, and test authorization boundaries via direct URL access, API responses, hidden records, and role/member changes. If Supabase RLS is in place, I’ll also check for policy gaps and data leakage paths. Initial focus: Multi-user walkthroughs Sync/conflict edge cases Chat and connections Data isolation/RLS checks Mobile browser matrix I can work on launch-blockers only, or include medium-severity UX/state issues that could impact early users. I’m available to start immediately and can review this via Freelancer chat or video call between 11 AM and 8 PM IST. Please share access details, and I’ll begin with a risk-based test plan right away.

Hi, waypoint I will run a full exploratory and regression pass on your multi-user social app, covering the sync/conflict flows, RLS data isolation, presence logic, and cross-device responsive testing, then hand you a reusable regression checklist you can run solo after every future push. I have tested a realtime collaborative planning tool where I caught a race condition: two users editing shared state simultaneously caused one update to silently drop. Found it by opening two browsers side by side and rapidly toggling edits. I am familiar with Supabase Row Level Security and will specifically probe for cross-user data leakage in DMs, private groups, and connection scopes. Questions: 1) For the sync/conflict flow, should I test scenarios where a user is offline when the edit happens, or only online presence cases for now? Ready to start whenever you are. Kamran

waypoint Hi, Your project is exactly the kind of QA engagement I enjoy. The most valuable bugs in collaborative apps usually appear in synchronization, authorization, and edge-case interactions between multiple users—not in single-user happy paths. That's where I'd focus my testing. I have experience testing web applications involving real-time updates, messaging, role-based permissions, and collaborative workflows. My approach combines exploratory testing with structured regression testing to uncover synchronization issues, race conditions, and authorization flaws before launch. For your alpha, I'll provide: • A detailed test plan covering critical user journeys • Multi-user testing using multiple accounts and sessions • Bug reports with reproduction steps, severity, screenshots/screen recordings • Device/browser compatibility matrix • Exploratory testing notes • A reusable regression checklist for future releases To verify data isolation, I'd test both the UI and network layer by attempting to access private resources directly, switching identities, modifying requests, validating authorization boundaries, and confirming that protected data remains inaccessible. I'm happy with an on-and-off engagement and can jump back in whenever you have a stable build ready for testing. Looking forward to learning more about the product. Best regards, Rajesh Rolen

Hello, waypoint I test realtime social apps with multi-account flows, chat, shared state, and mobile browsers. On a collaborative planning app, I found a stale presence bug where one user accepted an edit but another kept outdated state. I will run an exploratory and regression pass on sync conflicts, group chat, DMs, friends, and Supabase RLS style data isolation. I will verify private access by testing direct URLs, API calls, account switching, and cross-user membership cases. Sporadic work is fine, and I can return for short focused passes as new features ship. Best regards, Teo

waypoint Hello! I'm a QA engineer with over 9 years of experience testing realtime, multi-user applications, including social platforms, collaborative tools, and chat systems—and I'm comfortable with the sporadic, on-and-off engagement you're looking for. To verify that one user cannot access another's private data, I would: 1. Log in as User A and create a private group or DM thread 2. Log in as User B in a separate browser/device 3. Attempt to access the direct URL or API endpoint for User A's private content 4. Try to manipulate the request (e.g., changing IDs in the URL or payload) to see if User B can retrieve, modify, or delete User A's data 5. Check if any data appears in User B's feed, search results, or notifications 6. Examine network requests to ensure the backend is enforcing RLS (I'm familiar with Supabase RLS) and returning 403/404 errors for unauthorised access 7. Test edge cases like User B being removed from a group but still having a stale token or cached data Could you share the staging environment URL, test account credentials, and any known issues or out-of-scope areas? I'll send the test plan and start exploring once I have access.

waypoint I run a technical team that includes dedicated QA, so this isn't a one-person exploratory pass, it's someone who can dig into the sync/conflict flow and RLS boundaries with the same depth you'd want, backed by engineers who understand realtime multi-user architecture if something needs deeper investigation. On a voice ordering system we built, multiple concurrent calls hit shared order state, and the interesting bug wasn't a crash, it was a race condition where two updates landed in the wrong order and silently overwrote each other instead of erroring. Same class of bug as your shared-state sync/conflict flow. To verify one user can't access another's private data, we'd go past the UI and test the API and database layer directly. Try requests with a different user's session token against endpoints that should be scoped to them. If you're on Supabase, we'd read every RLS policy line by line, then try to break it under edge cases like shared group membership changes or account deletion, not just confirm it exists. Availability works for sporadic engagement, an initial focused pass now, then picking it back up whenever you ship something new. No steady hours needed on either side.

waypoint Hello, I’m a QA Engineer with 6+ years of experience testing complex web applications, including multi-user workflows, real-time interactions, API validation, regression, and exploratory testing. I understand that collaborative applications require validating synchronization, concurrency, authorization, and edge cases beyond standard functional testing. One interesting issue I found involved stale shared state where concurrent user actions caused inconsistent data between sessions due to delayed synchronization. It was reproducible through parallel user actions and helped improve conflict handling. To verify data isolation, I test with multiple accounts, attempt direct URL/API access to restricted resources, validate authorization boundaries, inspect network requests, and confirm users cannot access private groups, DMs, or other users’ data. I’m familiar with the principles of Supabase Row-Level Security and authorization testing. I’ll provide a structured test plan, detailed bug reports with screenshots/videos, exploratory notes, device/browser coverage, and a reusable regression checklist. I’m available for long-term, on-demand collaboration and can start with the initial testing pass immediately. Best regards, Zain Ul Hassan

Hi, waypoint , your app is exactly the kind of QA pass that needs real multi-user testing, not just form checks. I understand the focus: realtime collaboration, shared-state conflict handling, chat, permissions, and mobile reliability before launch. I’ve tested collaborative and realtime products before, including flows where multiple logged-in users interact at once and where authorization mistakes can expose private data. I’m comfortable writing clear repro steps, severity notes, and practical regression checklists that a solo founder can reuse. My approach would be to start with a focused exploratory pass on your highest-risk journeys, then verify edge cases around sync/conflict behavior, presence, messaging, and Supabase RLS/data isolation. I’d also build a device/browser matrix and capture anything that breaks on mobile. If this is the right fit, I’d be glad to help you tighten the app before you open it up. Best regards, Gabriel

Waypoint. In a domain like a realtime-multiuser social app, it's pivotal to have someone rooted in making online environments robust, stable, and scalable - exactly what I bring to the table. Having spent two decades honing my expertise in PHP-based development and platforms like WordPress and Laravel, I'm no stranger to the complexities of user interactions. For example, my work with WooCommerce - managing intricate payment flows and intricate backend logic bears resemblance to your project's high-level technical demands. But your project isn't only technically challenging, it's conceptually intricate too. The shared-state syncing you described with the ability for different users to accept or discard changes is a precise challenge I've tackled before in collaborative tools. One instance where a junior developer had inadvertently removed code intended for recording real-time changes led me to rewrite the entire feature differently! This experience makes me confident in my ability to isolate potential bugs and employ a preemptive approach that aligns with your needs. Lastly, let's talk about sporadic availability. While most freelancers might hesistate at an opportunity that doesn't offer consistent work, I appreciate the value of partnerships that transcend traditional 9-to-5 engagements. My clients have found my flexibility and willingness to switch gears on-demand important as it ensures their system remains stable even during unpredicted intervals of work.
