I am running the latest version of oscommerce with some modifications installed (such as SPPC). I would like to implement a 'filter' at the top of the page, which will be 3 dropdown boxes:
The first dropdown filter box will be Make e.g. "BMW"
The second dropdown filter box will be Model e.g. "3 series"
The third dropdown filter box e.g. "e46 (1999 to 2005)"
I will create 4 new tables:
Hierarchy1 table will have two fields: Hierarchy1ID and Hierarchy1 Description.
Hierarchy2 table will have three fields: Hierarchy1ID, Hierarchy2ID and Hierarchy2 Description.
Hierarchy3 table will have three fields: Hierarchy2ID, Hierarchy3ID and Hierarchy3 Description.
Product_Hierarchy will have two fields: ProductID and Hierarchy3ID.
I need someone to help me edit the oscommerce website, so there are 3 permanent filters at the top of the screen, and when the user chooses an item from Hierarchy1, it will then filter the available choices in Hierarchy2, and finally choosing an item in Hierarchy2 will restrict the choices in Hierarchy3. Once the user has chosen an item in Hierarchy3 it will only show products that are associated with that Hierarchy3.
It will continue to allow the user to choose categories, and subcategories, but only the products which = the chosen hierarchy3 will be shown.
