My approach for your MySQL performance issue: - Pull slow query logs and sort by total execution time, not just per-query — the worst offender is often a fast query running 10,000 times - Review your RDS parameter group: innodb_buffer_pool_size, max_connections, thread_cache_size, and the usual suspects for connection timeout issues - Analyze I/O patterns — is it read or write heavy during spikes? That changes the fix entirely - Check index coverage on your heaviest queries using EXPLAIN and identify missing or redundant indexes - Review storage config — are you on gp3 with provisioned IOPS or still on gp2? This alone causes I/O spikes under load - Deliver a prioritized report: what to change, why, and expected impact. No guesswork.
