To succeed in this project you will understand the concept of Parallax backgrounds and how they are used in games to create a 3D effect, whilst actually being simple layered 2D images. Effectively you create the scene and provide the layers as separate layers that we will use in our endless scrolling runner style game.
If you have no idea what I'm talking about, then this project is probably not for you, no offence intended. If you need a refresher to conform your understand then you can search YouTube for a simple video overview entitled '2D Camera with Parallax Scrolling in XNA (Sample)'
This game is going to be dark and eerie, so you must also have a creative mind and be interested in making awesome art which sets the scene for mobile gaming.
The background image will need to scroll endlessly, so the end of the image must line up with the start of the image, so that it can loop in an endless fashion as the character (not included in this project) will run / jump / fly in front of the endless, layered background you are designing.
Still reading? Good! Attached to this project is an eerie image which will set the scene for your inspiration. This is the inspiration for the endless background image. Note that the buildings will be wider, so the scene will be actually longer than the pic, but you can use your inspiration. The trees will be a separate layer, as will the layers of clouds and darkness that will pass by the constant moon.
This is an awesome opportunity to get in at the ground level of this project. It's very likely that we will need further scene's so use this as an opportunity to showcase your skills and get more work.
Previous example of game art is essential as is experience of Parallax backgrounds. Mention your experience in your response if you want to be taken seriously. Generic responses posted by a VA will not get much love :)
