I have a website that contains a large calendar in it. I want to give people the ability to vote for the events that they think are the best.
Please see [url removed, login to view] and the LOL list at [url removed, login to view] for examples of this voting system.
What you will need to do is create a basic, fully functional, database integrated voting system, with the following features:
-- vote count is displayed as a number next to each events (when an event is created, it will start with 1 vote).
-- when user mouses over the number, a small popup bubble will appear with a line of text and a button. click the button to vote for that event. move the mouse out of the bubble, or click an X icon to close the bubble without voting.
-- after clicking the button, content within that popup bubble will change to something like "your vote has been counted". at the same time, using ajax, the vote count number on the page will increase by 1.
-- after 3 seconds, or when user clicks anywhere, the bubble disappears.
-- users must be logged in to vote, and users can only vote once for each event.
I have a programmer working on the site, but he is having trouble with this piece of ajax code. So you will be able to work with him when database integration comes.
This should take no more than 3-4 days to complete. You do not need to do any CSS or styling... I will do that once the basic functionality is there.
Please provide specific examples of ajax scripting that you have done in the past, similar to this, for me to consider you for the job.
