Our website will be a service where customers can sign up for an online
membership where they can set up several recepients to receive flowers
throughout the year on occassions such as birthday's, anniversaries, or
other occassions. The main rational behind our business is so businessmen will never have to go through the agony and embarrassment of forgetting their loved one's special day.
We have the site template ready with flash etc... however we need to have the ecommerce funtionality programmed. Our primary objective is to handle many accounts individually for easy access by us and the customer. We are looking for custom programming to create the infrastructure for a membership site and shopping cart utilizing php, asp, mysql and databases. Our site is currently on a Windows server but can be easily changed over to unix if necessary.
The shopping cart application would need to have the flexibility to let
customers purchase an item instantly or to buy a membership where they can login and set up several recipients, dates and items to deliver.
The membership "software" would allow members to enter a "members only" area of our website where they would receive discounts and specials that instant purchase customers would not have access to. Customers will have the ability to set up different funding sources such as credit card or ach. Also customers will have the flexibility to pay now or have payment delayed until delivery date.
The admin side would need to have live statistics available and accessible from any computer with internet access that will give us the background of when, what and why people use our service. States need to include New orders, pending orders, completed or filled orders, zip codes, credit card purchases.
We also want the ability to send out email reminders and marketing to our customers from the administration side.
The primary action users would take when coming to our site would be to
setup an individual account, maybe a discount for first time users or return users. We want them to purchase and enter several occasions that they want flowers sent to. We want easy to navigate sign up process with a crumb trail so customers know where they are at in the process at all times.
Our service will be discreet to even cater to people with many significant
others (girlfriends). We want to make even "players" look good.
The site will need to be professional and discreet.
Transaction types that we will want to have the ability to use are:
1. Point of sale - Customer can pay for all membership and products up
front.
2. Membership payment first then delay payment for flowers for when they are scheduled to be sent.
4. A yearly membership for all the dates they want a flat fee- perhaps.

There are several shopping cart ecommerce solutions that we like and several membership scripts that we like but we really need something that has both types of features together in one.
We have an in-house website designer that is comfortable with installing scripts just not writing custom programming. We will be comfortable updating content once the project is completed. We use Dreamweaver or Frontpage.
We would like our membership/ecommerce interface to have the ability to be updated easily and color scheme and logo to be easily changed.
We will provide the written content for this website.

You can use free open source systems for this project. I would install and configure e107 and zen-cart. Then customize the site to give you the unique look you need.
