I am looking to build a web-based program that allows three types of users to interact for the transportation market in the United States. Three users will be Shippers (the ones originating the truck-load), Carriers, and Warehouses. The shippers will be in control of the system (set permissions for the sub-users of the shippers and set permissions for carriers and warehouse) and they must be able to invite add preferred carriers and warehouse to their shipping network.
The shippers must be able to establish loads with a load number, a pick-up and delivery location, and will also be able to assign the loads to preferred carrier, who must be part of my website. All parties involved in the shipping network must be a member of my website.
Carriers and warehouses may be able to be involved in multiple shipper networks.
Shipper tools will include a control panel that shows which loads are Pending, Assigned, and Closed. There also is a bidding system for carriers to bid on lanes, a Load Board that carriers can post loads to and that the warehouses and carriers will be able to see them on their own load board. All partiers can see load information, (ie. Shipper, Carrier, Warehouse) and they may add notes to the loads.
Carrier Tools will include their own load board to bid on specific loads and thier control panel that shows the loads that have been assigned, booked, or arrived.
Warehouse Tools will have a control panel that shows load information and status, along with closed loads.
How This Will Work
A shippers assignes load to carrier, carriers assigns truck number and trialer number, warehouse is updated in status. Carrier then arrives the load, and shipper removes load from everyone's board by confirming the arriving information, i.e. Proof of Delivery.
Once a load has been closed all users must be able to search in the hsitory of closed loads by date, load numbers, pick-up or delivery location, etc.
Instant messaging capabilities are needed between the groups as well.
All involved parties on a load must be able to udate load information and add load notes.
