What I want is very simple. The objective is to collect historical price information of some video games in [url removed, login to view]'s top seller lists.
I am doing a research about video game prices for a university research project. It is very hard to collect information manually. I am interested in learning the price movement patterns of video games, especially for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. [url removed, login to view] and [url removed, login to view] are the perfect places for that research because it has publicly available information for the release date of the game and price. I want to track the following data points for a game:
- Game Name:
[url removed, login to view] Score:
- [url removed, login to view] user review score:
-Date of first price change:
-New Price #1:
-Date of second price change:
-New Price #2:
-Date of Nth price change:
-New Price #N:
What I want is a small program that will crawl [url removed, login to view], [url removed, login to view] and [url removed, login to view] to collect these information and store it. Then, I want to be able to export these data to an Excel worksheet so I can work on. It would be enough for me to update the price data once a day.
If you are interested in this project but you don’t understand exactly what I wrote, please send me an e-mail and we can talk on Skype or another instant messaging platform.
