This project should be a piece of cake for someone who knows what they are doing and has every created an html editor or application of this sort.
Basically, I need an html editor like frontpage or NVU. The biggest differences are noted in my description below (mainly a few easy wizards for my newbies). I want to really cater this towards newbies.
Looking forward to your bid.
Nitty Gritty Marketing Website Creator Pro
* Purpose: To make it unbelievably easy for anyone to create direct-response types of pages in minutes, even if they're a newbie
o We will work on PC version in this project
Mac version will be next (if you can create mac software, then great. If not, I'll use someone else). Only quote price based on windows version.
o Regular "What you see is what you get (WYSIWYG)" html functions.
+ The standards
# The biggest difference is I want it to look VERY simple. Big buttons, not too many options. Just the things they need to create a site and nothing more (at least on the graphical interface). I want it to look really drop dead simple and sort of "childish" (in a good, simplistic way)
Text decoration, sizing, indent... basically the entire microsoft formatting toolbar. If you copy front page or NVU's interface, we'll be all good
# I would like to have pre-made templates from my designer that they can choose from a start-up window. these will be nothing more than generic html pages that have already been created. + Fools-proof image uploading
# One of the major problems when I was teaching my mom how to upload images to the web was that sometimes in front page, it would reference the picture on her harddrive instead of in its relative path on the server. When I was first getting started many many years ago, I recall this too. For newbies, this can be very confusing as they think the photo is live (because its on their computer) but when a stranger goes to their site, the photo is not there. We need a checker that always makes sure the photo is on the web or exists in the relative path. Some fools-proof way for newbies to never get confused about this.
# I need a VERY simple ftp setup wizard (enter hostname, enter username, enter password, choose main directory for this website)
They should be able to manage different websites from this main screen. Sort of like the front of ws ftp where you can choose which site you want to work on, and edit any of the settings associated with a site.
Since I personally use hostgator and godaddy the most, I want to have an option for people who have gotten their hosting from any of these two companies. It will be just like the regular "setup" wizard but have screenshots and very specific instructions like "find the e-mail from hostgator that looks like this." etc etc
# I want to have a right-side "help" area that they can deactivate if they don't like it. Basically, when they do certain things (like if they are "bolding" or decorating their text, it will pop up a tip that says "Click here for a video on how to use fonts and sizes to create eye-catching sales copy." (since this will be for marketers, I want to make sure I incorporate these things). It would basically take them to the web and a personal video of mine on how to do whatever it is that I'm promising.
+ The most important part:
"My marketing wizards"
# purpose: To help them build key parts of a direct-response website, step-by-step, "wizard-style"
# Different wizards
* Squeeze page / opt-in page
o Wizard example:
+ Step 1: Page background, title, and name
Step 2: width of main table (with pic showing main table so they know what we're talking about)
Step 3: Type headline (with headline examples from me)... choose color, size, decoration (bold, italicize certain words, underline, etc)
Step 4: type sub-headline (same as above)
Step 5: bullet points (same as above, font size, decoration, etc, space between bullet points = small, medium, large). Should be done in a way so that they just type in their points but it automatically creates the bullet points and spaces them accordingly.
Step 6: Add multimedia (space for them to add youtube or video code, audio, etc... placement = under bullet points, on the right side of bullet points (which makes bullet point area smaller), on the left of bullet points, above bullet points
Step 7: call to action (a place for them to type what they would like visitor to do)... "Simply enter your e-mail address and first name below"
Step 8: Opt-in box code (this code will come directly from their autoresponder or mailing list software)... options for them to change various things about the form... (text field size and character limits, center form, bold form descriptions "first name:" "last name"
Step 9: Footer... add photos, closing text, copyrights with same formatting abilities as above
BONUS: Add google website optimizer testing but we'll cover this in the next RAC project
Keep in mind that most of these steps should have SUGGESTED font sizes, and bolding/italicizing/decoration that I will give you. Of course, they can then alter these settings as shown above.
* home page
o Pretty much all other wizards will be just like the one above. Once we have the above wizard completed, these other wizards will just be a spin off of the first. All we're doing is basically giving them the SECTIONS of their website and having them fill in the blank.
